Merry Christmas!

It has been busy round here, with work and family and rushing about like a chicken without a head. We have eaten so much excellent food over the last four days that last night I actually didn't eat dessert, and this morning I'm thinking "Man, I coulda had one of those chocolate thingies for breakfast!" But then I remember that last night I proclaimed that I would eat nothing but yogurt, toast and bananas today. Maybe a small sip of broth. But I know that's not going to happen. Seriously, yum.

But enough about food. The BEST thing about Christmas was my family. Mum and Dad are visiting, and there has been much getting into one another's beds and drinking tea and gossip and deep and meaningful philosophy. They have hopped from house to house a bit, on the premise that guests should not stay too long. And the result that hordes of people follow the guests wherever they go. There have been a dozen long farewells and a dozen re-unitings, with many hugs in between.

The boys are ecstatic, because they got recording equipment and such. My living room is turning into the teenage musician's den of awesome.

Mum gave me Lawrence Scott's "Light Falling on Bamboo", inscribed:

'For Nancy
Sending you this from your old home where we're going to stay soon
Very best wishes
Lawrence Scott'

I KNOW!!!!!

I loved 'Witchbroom', and I am looking forward to a few days of chillaxing with my new book. By 'chillaxing' I mean 'Thinking about all the stuff I didn't get done over the last 6 months and thinking I should really get it done, but reading my book and eating fudge and visiting peeps instead'. I've been working too hard, but HOPEFULLY the mad full time stretch is over and I will go back to short term jobs or a part time job sharing position some time next month. Writing will resume full speed ahead, with a science feature for kids due at the end of the month. For now, I am on holiday. Much needed!

I hope everyone had a love-filled Christmas.

Glad you're having a wonderful holiday and time to relax and visit with your family. Say Hi to Bunty and Rory. We had a rainy, quiet but lovely day on Christmas and head for Tobago in 2 days. Hugs to all your brood there.
