What is International Law?

The world seems a bit bananas at the moment, but this isn't the first time, and every time the world has gone bananas before, we have managed to pull through and be better human beings. I know it doesn't feel that way, but we have. One thing that helps us to come together as a human race, is international law. International law protects you. It might seem like some faraway, complicated thing that we can’t understand, but learning a little bit about it is becoming more and more important for all of us. The world is more interconnected than ever, and understanding the basics will help you better understand major events like conflicts, why some things are getting more expensive, the stupid long winded rants politicians are spouting, your rights and responsibilities, and the background behind current media reporting. You might not want to be a lawyer, but your daily life is impacted by international laws, and non-lawyers can change the world through international law.

I'm writing a series on international law on Substack. Once a week you can read a short (3-5 minute) article, which hopefully will help you feel better informed and more optimistic. You can subscribe, receiving the articles as weekly emails, which will always be FREE because I believe everyone should have access to this information, not just lawyers.

I recommend that you read my early posts, which build the story of international law.

  1. What is International Law, Anyway?

  2. International Law in Everyday Life

  3. These Dangerous Women

  4. What Has the World Health Organisation Ever Done for Us?

I hope that I can help you see just how interesting international law is. Meanwhile, I'm writing a whole book, so I look forward to your comments and questions, which will help me understand how to explain things better and learn about what interests you most.

I'll still be available here as well, and will return when I've completed my article series.

Come on over!
