So. I am certainly having fun, messing about with email, lists of addresses, trying to coax a few more hours of usefulness out of the fast-dying Blackberry, making all kinds of silly mistakes, rushing off to work and then to the mobile phone shop with Sam in tow (*koff, koff,* "I am too sick to go to school, Mum. No, really!" *koffkoff*), and taking his expert nine-year-old tech advice: "EEEK, these Nokias are expensive Sam." "Well, how about an Ericsson? Remember the old one you had before they went digital? It worked for ever. It still works, for games and stuff."
Sold. One Ericsson Phone with Walkman thingy. It's small and sturdy-looking, and can plug into the laptop for internet. Ta daaaa!
In other news, geee wiz I have so much to do! Tomorrow I am not working, which is BAAD because work doesn't do itself, but the house won't organize itself either. I need to clone myself, and take turns. WOULDN'T THAT BE COOL? We could have an early-morning meeting over a couple cups of tea. Sort our day out, go through our lists, and have it all done by a reasonable hour. And from time to time, we could give each other a day off. Come on, now, wouldn't a clone be cool?
This website was invented many years ago, when the author kept coming across interesting things in pockets whilst doing laundry. Like small, terrified reptiles. Blogging about raising children in the rainforest, moving them to the UK and watching them leave home one by one to have their own adventures has gradually been replaced by a return to grownup life for their mother, Nan Sheppard, who is an anthropologist, writer and public international law consultant.

I've been wanting to clone myself for awhile now. Will u figure it out, then e me? Now that you've figured out your tech solutions :)
Oh NO! Nothing beats a Nokia, well except maybe an Iphone! But really Nokias are quite affordable down here! Iphones on the other hand are far too expensive!
You can clone yourself? You have AWESOME super powers.
With my luck, my clone would be smarter and better looking and then I'd be homeless because my clone would have figured out how to dispossess me.
Nancy......please tell me where you got your laptop..
thanks.
oh and great post!!
Sam is so charming!

Hi Anonymous, Sean ordered my laptop online from Dell (I think!) and had it mailed in. It's an Inspiron, and apparently there was a special deal that week which could not be missed. Sean is an expert shopper and finder of deals! I am really happy with it so far, and I have no problems with Vista.
thanks for your help!! i now know my new christmas present!!!
